A protest is currently ongoing at the main gate of the university of UNIBEN. The protest is about the unfair addition of 20k to school fees barely one month into the beginning of the first semester.
The VC Mrs Salami has remained unmoved by her decision. There have been alleged claims of meetings with her, plus audio pieces of evidence proving her unwavering decision towards this decision. Eventually leading students to come out of mass to march against this decision.
Never in the history of the school has there been a record of such an increment. Newly admitted students have been affected by this as most of them have not been cleared. Not been cleared means you can't pay your fees. This automatically means that they will be forced to pay the additional 20k.
Cars of both students and lecturers have been unable to gain access to the school premises due to this peaceful protest.
The students wait for the arrival of the vc to know what the next step will be. Various media houses are around to capture this protest.
Hopefully, things will change. Is it people who found it hard to pay 45,000 nairas who will find it easy to pay 65,000, 80,000 and 90,000 as the case maybe?
