How Buhari's Regime Dealt With The Menace Of Producing Millions Of Graduates Who Are Unskilled

The issue of Nigeria producing millions of university graduates who are unskilled in their various fields have become a viral issue of discourse by various stake holders in the educational sector. It is believed that the menace of having huge population of unskilled graduates have contributed immensely to the level of unemployment experienced in the country.

In the same vein, having educated youths who have no valuable skills to offer have also affected the valid workforce of the country, thereby impeding the growth and development of the nation at large.

However, in the plight of the already existing issue, this article presents how the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari has dealt with the menace of having millions of Nigerian graduates who are unskilled.

The Npower initiative

Buhari's regime have used the Npower initiative as a means to deal with the issue of having unskilled graduates. The Npower initiative which was developed to integrate different categories in the interest of beneficiaries, has help as a good platform for empowering graduates and non-graduates in skill acquisition.

It is noteworthy that since the inception of Npower under the administration of President Buhari, lots of graduates have been able to gain profitable skills and financial supports that will keep them independent. In sync with the progress of the initiative, President Buhari had increased the number of beneficiaries from 500,000 to 1,000,000 in order to accommodate more youths (including graduates) in gaining profitable skills.

In this regard, it is believed that Buhari's administration will not relent in seeking more ways ensuring that Nigerian graduates acquire needed skills.
