Federal government give new deadline for NIN/sim linkage

The federal government of Nigeria has given a new deadline for NIN-sim linkage to be July 26 2021.

The previous deadline was supposed to elapse tomorrow June 30 2021. This extension came after stakeholders sensed the need for more consolidation following the increase in the number of NIN registration across the country.

According to a joint statement by the Public affairs director, NCC, Dr. Ikechuku Adinde and Head, Corporate affairs, NIMC, Kayode Adegoke on Tuesday, said the extension was done by the federal government in order for the citizens to obtain the NIN.

As of June 28 2021, a total of 5410 enrollment centres are now available across the country compared to the 800 centres that was reported in 2020.

According to NIMC, there are a total of 57.3 million NIN enrollments and each enrollment has an average of 3 to 4 sims linked to it.

Citizens were appreciated by the Minister of communications and digital economy Dr. Isa Pantami for their compliance and cooperation with government directive on the NIN-sim linkage.
