South West Dons Top The List Of Most Productive Engineering And Technology Researchers In Nigeria

Five-year cumulative H-index of scientists obtained from the 2021 edition of Scientific Index ranking shows that dons from South West university dominate the list of top engineering/technology researchers in Nigeria. The H-index is a measure of both productivity and citation impact of academic publications. Here is the list of the twenty most impactful and productive professors in Nigerian universities over the past five years.

 3. Kenneth Kanayo Alaneme (Federal University Of Technology, Akure)

4.  Murtala Ahmed Musa (University of Maiduguri)

5.  Adamu Mustapha (Kano University of Science & Technology)

6.  Sanjay Misra (Covenant University)

7.  Chibundu N. Ezekiel (Babcock University

8.  Benjamin Aribisala (Lagos State University)

9.  Temitope Raphael Ayodele (University of Ibadan)

10. Cleophas Akintoye Loto (Covenant University)

11. Abass A. Olajire (Ladoke Akintola University)

12. Victor S. Aigbodion (University of Nigeria. Nsukka)

13. Kolawole Falade (University of Ibadan)

14. Ayodeji Ogunjuyigbe (University of Ibadan)

15. James Chukwuma Ogbonna (University of Nigeria, Nsukka)

Fifteen of the twenty academics above are from Southern universities. Only two of the dons are from the South East. Interestingly, both of them are from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka. The remaining three professors are from the North with one each from the North Central (Abdulhakeem Bello of African University of Science and Technology, Abuja), North East (Murtala Ahmed Musa of the University of Maiduguri) and North West (Adamu Mustapha of Kano University of Science and Technology).

A further check shows that ten of the academics in the top twenty are from federal universities. This leaves private and state universities with seven and three dons respectively. Interestingly, the only foreign professor in the list works in Covenant University which is privately owned.
