This was after a marathon mediation meeting between the Federal Government (FG) and Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU).
The meeting was convened to evaluate the level of implementation of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed by FG and ASUU in December 2020 and the agreement of the follow-up meeting held on the first week of August this year.
The Minister said that the meeting was a fruitful deliberations, emphasizing that the six matters on the agenda were addressed adequately.
Also, that the government was not reluctant on anything that would make the university system a standard as they are desirous that the public universities should be a fit and proper place for learning and research.
He also talked on the issue of revitalization fund for varieties. There was an update from the National Universities Commission (NUC) and the Federal Ministry of Education—they are happy that the assignment has been carried out well.
Ngige added that a monitoring committee has also been set up by the NUC which would oversee the disbursement of the funds as it would commence very soon.
Regarding the matter of Earned Allowances, the meeting also discussed that aspect satisfactorily, he said.
