Lagos state planning to feed schoolchildren with a budget of 11 billion Naira

The government of Lagos State has launched a new programme that targets to feed primary school children in all the government funded schools across the state. This was reported by the Punch, as they revealed that the state government planned to augment the federal school feeding programme that only provided meals for pupils in primary one to three.

A special adviser of the office of Civil Engagement, Princess Aderemi Adebowale, revealed the plans as she claimed that plans have already been put in place to use a budget of 11 billion Naira to provide snacks and food for primary school pupils, especially the creche and other senior classes that are not covered by the federal plan.

It is a welcome development from the state government, one that we can all be proud of as it would help a lot of families in this hard economic situation. Also it would serve as an incentive for parents who deny their children formal education, as they would not want to miss out on the free feeding plan by the government.
