As a candidate of the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) who wrote the 2021 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), you must start taking the necessary steps before various tertiary institutions begin to release Post UTME and screening forms.
As a Jambite, the first step you should take is to know and be informed whether your school of choice can accept your UTME score for your course. If you are a person who loves to Law, or Pharmacy and you scored less than 230 in the just concluded UTME, some tertiary institutions may not want to admit you because the cut-off mark for such courses maybe 240 and above. However, you may see someone who got less than 200 in UTME admitted. It is not partiality. It is because the cut-off mark for that person's course is lesser than yours.
So if your UTME score is lesser than your initial course, the necessary step for you, if you want to gain admission to the university, is to change it to a course with a cut-off mark that is not more than your UTME score.
The second necessary step is to upload your SSCE results to JAMB's portal. If you are still writing the West Africa Examination Council (WAEC) exam, you need not worry but when they release the result, you will upload it on the JAMB's portal. You can also use NECO results when they release them. However, the O-level results must be good and sound. This will give a broad opportunity of getting admission to the school of your choice.
The third step is to make scrutinies and questionings whether the school you have chosen will be doing POST UTME exam or screening. If they are going to do the screening, you don't need to prepare for the POST UTME examination. But if they are going to do POST UTME, then you will need to get yourself prepared.
The fourth step is to get the POST UTME past questions of the school of your choice. This is crucial to your success in the exam. You need to get the past questions to know the WAY and HOW they used to set the POST UTME questions of the school. This exam will be the key factor to your admission. It is a red sea to cross over to the school. You have to work hard so that you get the required score for your course.
Additionally, you also need to know the model of the Computer Based Test settings of the exam. The exam is being done on the computer just like JAMB UTME. However, it may not be in the model of the JAMB UTME exam. So you have to know the model. You also need to be rapid when answering the questions just like you wrote UTME.
The fifth step is to CONTINUE READING YOUR BOOKS. There is a saying that learning never ends. You have to keep reading your books. This will help your brain prepared for school. If you don't know how to read alone, it is advisable to attend tutorials.
