School Resumption: Relief As FG Okays Full Re-opening Of All Schools

The Federal Government of Nigeria has officially given green light to the nationwide reopneing of all schools and the subsequent commencement of academic activities, imploring all the school administrators in the country to fully reopen all schools.


It will be recalled that schools were initially closed across the nation in March due to the sudden outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic in the country, making about 6-7 months schools have remained closed, while the FG worked on safety measures for school reopening.


It will also be recalled that, due to the delay in the directive expected from the Federal Government on school resumption, some states such as Lagos, Oyo, Kano, and Enugu have already announced their resumption dates.

Thus, while speaking at a press briefing today in Abuja, the Honourable Minister of Education, Adamu Adamu has approved the safe reopening of all institutions in the country, meanwhile employing that all safety precautions should be followed to ensure that students aresafe after school resumption.


He further mentioned during his speech today that all Unity Schools in the country are to resume by the 12th of October, adding that states and private owned schools will be allowed to scheme and determine their own modalities for school reopening.
