Festus keyamo, the Federal Minister of State for Labour and Employment of Nigeria while featuring on Channels Television's Politics Today has called on Nigerian parents to kneel and beg the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU to accept the offer given to them by the government. Keyamo said,

"... Even before the strike began. We immediately call them and said let us start talking. They start to strike. Now they hold your children, they hold your jugular and blackmail you to give them 1.2 trillion for overheads when our total income is 6.1 trillion and you want to build hospitals and take care of critical infrastructure, this is the grim picture.

"parents who have three, four children or even one child, or one in a university and for 170 days, their children are not able to go to school. What would you say to them as a government? Do you want me to kneel on it? Parents also should kneel. It has come to that point that if they don't go back to classes. They are not the only ones in Nigeria.
