The mother of 12-year-old Chrisland student who died amid the school’s Inter-house sport at Agege Stadium, Lagos State, has described the school’s apology as a joke, stressing that the school never loved her daughter.
The management of Chrisland school had, on the 5th of March, tendered an official statement apologizing over the death of Whitney Adeniran and also dismissed the rumor about the school requiring the exhumation of the deceased’s body in order to conduct a second autopsy.
“We are deeply saddened and sorry about Whitney’s death. We are remorseful and sorry to Whitney’s parents. We are sorry to our parents and the entire community that hosts our school. We are also very sorry to the nation at large. It was a huge loss to the school,” the statement read in part.
The mother of Whitney Adeniran has reacted to this, saying that the school’s apology is a joke. In a video posted on her Instagram page on Sunday, the 5th of March, 2023, she asked the school to pull down their apology or open their comment section.
“Whoever is advising you on the way to go didn’t advise you well, or maybe you took their advice wrongly.
Whatever your plans are in posting my child, saying you are sorry is a joke. Go and pull down the picture or better still, open your comment section, I want to tell you something.
She further stated that the apology was hypocritical as the school is not mourning with her, claiming that when they saw her at the police station and in the courtroom, they refused to greet or acknowledge her. She claimed the school never loved and cared about her child as they continued with their inter-house sport after her child's body was taken to the hospital.
“You never Loved are, you are not mourning with me. When she died, you still called out mothers to come out and dance on the field. You sent her body to the hospital while you went to the police station to make an official report. She died, your inter-house sport continued. So no, you didn’t love her,” she said.
She added that what the school said in their statement about not having any plan to conduct a second autopsy is not true as she was told by ‘their policeman’ so it’s either the school or the policeman who told her the information wasn’t truthful.
