JAMB 2021: 335 Blind And Visually Impaired Students Sit For Exam Across Nigeria

The Joint Admission and Matriculation Board in its promise to ensure that equal opportunities are given to all candidates, have conducted examinations for aspirants with various disabilities including blind and Visually impaired candidates for the 2021 Joint Admissions and MatriculationBoard exams.

The Admissions Board through the Jamb Equal-Opportunity initiative it had instituted, had rendered necessary assistance to disabled and special students including 335 blind and visually impaired students from the process of registration as well as conducting the examinations and taking care of their admission process.

The chairman of the Chairman of the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) equal opportunity group, Professor Peter Okebukola made this known on Thursday, 1st of July.

He stated that the group was introduced by JAMB registrar, Professor Oloyede to cater for the needs of special students and to ensure that they are not challenged with difficulties during the process.

According to the group, the JAMB initiative, since their introduction in 2017 has seen more than 1500 of such candidates conduct the unified tertiary examinations. The group had also processed the admission of more than 500 special students into Universities and other higher institutions in the country.

The 2021 examination was possible with the use of special personal computers, braille slates and typewriters which the candidates used to answer the questions.

The two-day examination was conducted between Wednesday, June 30 and Thursday, July 1, 2021 and the results are expected to be released once the whole process is over.
