The University of Lagos (UNILAG) has gotten a new Deputy Vice chancellor of Development Services, Professor Ayodele Atsenuwa. She was recently appointed to take the office for a tenure of two (2) years.
Professor Ayodele Victoria Atsenuwa is a Professor of Public Law at the University of Lagos. Before her appointment as the institution's Deputy Vice chancellor of Development Services , she was the Dean for Faculty of Law.
She obtained her first degree from Obafemi Awolowo University and proceeded to University of London where she obtained her Masters degree in Criminology and Criminal Justice. She also obtained her second Masters degree in Law from University of Warwick.
She started her teaching career at Lagos State University (LASU) in 1988 and proceeded to UNILAG in 1990. She became a Professor of Law in 2011. She is an expert in Criminal Law and Justice, Gender and the Law, Human Rights Law, and other fields of Law.
Professor Atsenuwa holds important position in different organizations. She is the current director of the West African Regional Centre for Law and Religion Studies, Nigeria. She is an accessor for the National Research Foundation, South Africa. She is also the Chairperson of the steering committee of the Centre for Human Rights, UNILAG and Head of Institute for African and Diaspora Studies.
She has also served as Directors of different organisations including: National Agency for the control of AIDS, Open Society Initiative for West Africa, Lagos state office of the public defender, Council of Legal Education of Nigeria, Orderly Society Trust, Girls Power Initiative, Legal Research and Resource Development, CLEEN Foundation, and so on. She is also a consultant for Ford Foundation, UN, MacArthur Foundation and other organizations.
