The Federal Government has finally released the long awaited date for resumption of Universities, level by level,in Nigeria.
The Principal Secretary Ambassador for University Education and Research,Simon Nwabuesi said University students will resume school by the end of July 2020.
He further explained the pattern in which the reopening of Nigerian Universities will follow. Postgraduate students in the final year will resume first, after which all other levels will resume.
He also articulated that the final year PHD and Masters students will be allowed to prepare for their examination which will be conducted in September 2020. He said when the final year student are done with their studies, they will create free space for the students resuming in September.
However, Universities have been asked to draft and submit their plans on how to mitigate the spread of Covid-19 and to accommodate their students upon resumption.
Only institutions that are ready to adhere to the regulations and guidelines laid down by the Federal Government to curb and prevent the spread of Corona virus will be allowed to reopen.
