There has been a lot of misinformation and rumors about WAEC.
In recent developments, WAEC officials met with the team of the federal government, led by Emeka Nwajiuba the Minister of State for Education.
The West African Examination Council (WAEC), has bowed to pressure from Nigeria to shift forward the date of its 2020 Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE), following a meeting with federal government officials in Abuja early this week.
The examination was slated to start on August 4, but the federal government hasn't made plans ready at it is worried of COVID-19 concerns.
A source at the meeting said that an agreement has been reached between both parties to shift the date of the examination.
WAEC will rendezvous in a meeting with the other four countries and Nigeria on picking a more suitable date for the commencement of the O'Level examinations.
The Director of information for the federal minister of education also declared this in an official statement.
He added; “Parents should rest assured that the safety of our students and teachers is paramount as we work assiduously towards the speedy reopening of our schools for the exit classes to take external examinations.”
A lot of traffic has been on social media for the reopening of schools at all levels especially since religious centers, event centers and business centers have been reopened with some saying "education is not a priority for the government".
