Francis Chukwuemeka Eze was born 13 October 1956, in Onitsha, Anambra State, Nigeria. He hails from Ideato in Imo State, Southeast Nigeria. Francis Eze obtained a bachelor's degree in Physics from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka in the 1980. In 1984, he received a master of science from the University of Dundee, Scotland. He obtained a Doctor of Philosophy in Solid state physics and materials science in 1994.
He began his career as a lecturer in 1981 at the Federal University Of Technology, Bauchi now ATBU Bauchi. Professor Eze became a full Professor in 2003. He served a two-term tenure as Dean, School of science in FUTO, and also served as Deputy Vice Chancellor (Administration) of the University in September 2013 to 2016. Professor Eze has over 31 years of academic experience, he has supervised over 300 research projects at BSc, B. Tech, MSc, and PhD levels.
Professor Chukwuemeka Eze was appointed as Vice Chancellor of Federal University of Technology, Owerri Imo State in 2016. Recently, the University's governing council elected a new Vice Chancellor to replace Professor Eze. The newly elected VC is Professor Nnenna Oti who is a Professor of Soil Science at the University is now replacing the outgoing VC of the institution.
