Lagos State University's VC Promises To give 50 Percent Scholarhip To Students With Aleast 4.5CGPA

During the matriculation ceremony of 6,648 students admitted for the 2020/2021 session, the Vice-chancellor (VC) of the Lagos State University (LASU), disclosed this.

Professor Ibiyemi Olatunji-Bello announced that any student who sustains a cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 4.5 and above in every session would be granted a 50-percent scholarship of his or her school fees.

If a student pays 57,000 naira every session, 27,500 will be refunded back.

They are to be paid at the end of every session.

This is part of our efforts at making life better and easier for world-class students.

This will encourage the students and promote competition among them, she said. This initiative was put in place years back when she was the acting VC, she said.

Ibiyemi disclosed that her administration will introduce a system where some of the students can be schooling and working. She planned to achieve this by collaborating with some firms that would help some of the LASU students earn some money to meet some of their needs.

The VC charged the new students to be focused and that the time to their graduation might seem to be long but would definitely come in a short while.

Avoid friends who do not encourage you in a good way and activities like cultism, malpractices and others should also be shunned. Adequate staff and the facilities to make you world class graduates are available at the end of your studentship, she added.

LASU is the second best university in Nigeria and the best state university in the country so far.
