Meet J.O Atteh Of Unilorin Who Became A Professor In 1993 At The Age Of 37 Years.

The prestigious university of Ilorin today, stands as one of the leading tertiary institutions in the country, since the school was established by the military regime of general Muritala Muhammed in 1975, the school has produced many excellent alumni who are taking the name of the university to greater heights.

The university has produced and are still producing many greater teachers, but standing tall amongst the current crops of active lecturers in the institution is Professor Job Olutimehin Atteh, the teacher per excellence joined the service of the university in 1985 and due to his excellent teaching and productive research acumen, he quickly rose through the ranks to become a full professor of animal science in 1993.

Professor Atteh was born in the mid 1950s, and had his tertiary education from the university of Ibadan in 1978 with a first class honour, he was given a scholarship to proceed his education, he subsequently obtained his Master in 1982 and doctorate degree in 1985 both at Guelph university in Canada with speciality in mono gastric nutrition.

He has been teaching meritoriously since 1985 in the department of Animal production, amongst the positions he has held in the school includes head of department and Dean of his faculty, he has supervised several undergraduates, masters and doctorate students, and many of his former students have even become professors.

Below are list of the awards he has won while he was a student.

In 1976, he won the national scholar awards, university of Ibadan.

1978, the Pfizer award for best graduating student in the department of Animal science, University of Ibadan.

In 1980, he won the Canadian commonwealth scholarship.

While studying in Canada, he won the Hubbard farm award in 1981.

The Dr. W.R Graham memorial award in 1983.

In 1984, Hon. John S. Martins fellowship award.

He is a member of many local and international bodies, he has published several journals and books for animal science student, Atteh is married and the union is blessed with four wonderful children, he hails from Kogi state.
