The Federal University of Petroleum Resources has joined the league of Federal Universities in Nigeria that have completed their EEP project with the commissioning taking place today in the school main campus in Effurun, Delta State
The Commissioning was done by Deputy Senate President, His Excellency, Distinguished Senator Ovie Omo-Agege during the ceremony of the 1.35 Megawatts Solar Hybrid Power Plant and other components under the Energizing Education Programme (EEP) at the Federal University of Petroleum Resources, Effurun, Delta State.
The Energizing Education Programme (EEP) is an initiative of the FGN, to provide a sustainable and clean power supply to 37 Federal Universities and 7 University Teaching Hospitals across Nigeria which is aim at providing power supply to University Campus, upgrade and supply of power to street lights.
Universities like Ahmadu Bello University Zaira, Alex Ekwueme Federal University Ndufu-Alike etc have completed theirs and already in use.
The project is being implemented by the REA and developed in Phases and being funded by the Federal Government.
The Federal University of Petroleum Resources Effurun (FUPRE) in Delta State, Nigeria was established and approved by the Federal Executive Council meeting of 14 March 2007 and admitted its first set of undergraduates in 2008
