Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji, has said that the state government’s decision to return mission schools to their original owners was based on the need for positive rebirth in learning and character in the schools.

Oyebanji, who thanked the Methodist Church Nigeria in Ekiti State for its contributions to the development of the state especially in the education sector, urged the church “to continue to use her vast influence to promote peace, unity and cooperation among our people”.

The head of Maigari village in Rimin Gado Local Government Area of Kano Atate, Dahiru Abba, has been shot dead.

His son, who is the Chairman of Rimin Gado Local Government, Barrister Munir Dahiru Maigari, confirmed the incident to Daily Trust.

Maigari said, “It happened around 2am. They came and did what they did. We are now preparing for his burial.

The governorship candidate of the New Nigeria Peoples Party in Ogun State, Olufemi Oguntoyinbo, on Saturday, called on the people of the state to disregard fake information spreading around that he had stepped down for another political party in the state.

Oguntoyinbo, in a statement personally signed, said he was still much in the race to liberate the people of the state from the hands of political machinery, whose stock in trade is political propaganda.

Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, on Saturday said plans were underway by his administration alongside the governments of Ogun and Lagos states to light-up the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.

Makinde, who stated this while appearing on State Affairs, a political programme on Splash FM 105.5, Ibadan, said he had initiated a discussion with his colleague in Lagos State and that the three states would work on the possibility of lighting up the entire stretch of the expressway, if elected for second tenure.
