Meet The First Female Professor In Nigeria

Felicia Adetowun Omolara Ogunsheye is the first female professor in Nigeria.

She was born on 5 December, 1926, she was a professor of library and information science at the university of Ibadan.

She is the elder sister of Lieutenant colonel Victor Banjo and also Ademola Banjo.

She finished her secondary school at Queen's college, before she became the only female student at Yaba college of technology in 1946.

In 1948, she collect her diploma, and become the first woman to graduate from the school.

She attended the Ibadan university college, then she further on to Newnham college, Cambridge university, UK to study Geography on scholarship. Earning BA and MA degrees in 1952 and 1956.

She became the first Nigeria woman there in Cambridge university, UK. She earned another master's degree in liabrary science from Simon college, Massachusetts, USA in 1962.

She established the Abadina media resources centre library of the university of Ibadan in 1973, she became a professor at the university of Ibadan.

She was chosen to be the dean in of faculty of education at the university of Ibadan.

She also served as a consultant to various organization, even the international federation of library Association and institutions.
