May 29: Ugwuanyi inaugurates several projects in Nsukka.

Enugu State Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi on Friday inaugurated some of the major projects of his administration that fulfilled his promise made in his inaugural speech to equip and modernize the university town of Nsukka, the second largest city in the state.

According to Daily Post, The projects Governor Ugwuanyi inaugurated to mark the successful completion of his eight-year term were the Enugu State Secretariat Annex in Nsukka, the Nsukka Conference Center adjacent to the State Secretariat Annex, the 5,000-seat Nsukka Township Stadium, and the Nsukka Press Center.

Speaking at the inauguration of the State Secretariat in Nsukka, Governor Ugwuanyi said the iconic and dignified building on three floors with 27 offices and other ancillary facilities in Ede-Oballa, Nsukka Local Government Area, has reduced cost and processing time and improved cohesion and efficiency in the conduct and coordination of government administrative activities.

Governor Ugwuanyi, who was appreciated by the officials through the Head of Service, Ken Chukwuegbo, and by the host community of Ede-Oballa through Chief Engr. Vita Abba and the traditional rulers of the four autonomous communities for his vision, foresight, and timely realization of the project, said the commissioning of the state secretariat has reduced travel time and distance of staff of the zonal offices of the state who now no longer have to travel regularly to Enugu to carry out their activities.

Shortly after the inauguration of the State Secretariat in Nsukka, the Governor inaugurated the state-of-the-art Conference Center in Nsukka, which is adjacent to the Secretariat building and was also built by his administration.

The conference center includes several halls for conferences as well as sports and recreational facilities, including swimming pools for adults and children and a lawn tennis court, to name a few.

Governor Ugwuanyi urged the people to take advantage of the project and the complementary recreational facilities.

From the conference center, Governor Ugwuanyi proceeded to the 5,000-capacity township stadium in GRA, Nsukka, where he inaugurated the first stadium in the Northern Senatorial District of Enugu.

He expressed delight that the state-of-the-art stadium, equipped with a tartan track and artificial turf for athletics competitions, and all other ancillary facilities have been excellently completed for public use.

The governor said that "the good people of Enugu North Senatorial District will enjoy the opportunities this sports facility will unleash, especially the development of sports talents among the youth."
