Year in, year out, the issue of incessant school fee hike is one that has almost become a norm in Nigeria's educational system.
Read the letter below:
I would like to request the help of the Ogun State governor to help us and come to the rescue of the students of Ogun State College of Health Technology, Ilese Ijebu!!
There has been a matter of concern amidst the students for 6 weeks in which the school despite the pleas of the students, and at an economically sensitive time like this, have cruelly and callously hiked the tuition fee of its returning students from #50,500 to #125,000 on the basis of untenable excuses. You would agree with me that, considering the condition and economy of the country, this is quite inconsiderate.
The school in this inhumane act have asked the students who cannot afford the fee to "leave the school for the privileged ones" in which the students have prepared their minds towards payment of a stamped amount of #50,500....
An outrageous increase of our tuition fees is tantamount to crumbling the dreams and ambitions of these students whose parents have worked relentlessly to build in a matter of minutes, particularly the students in year 3 and 4 of their programmes!
We beg this media to help us get this information to the right sources before things get out of hands between the angry students and the inhumane management who have decided to bring discomfort to the student populace by hiking the tuition fees by a wholesome percentage which ideally is not agreeable!
Thanks in advance.
