The Government of Ekiti State have announced a change in their earlier planned school resumption date for students in graduating classes at both private and public schools. The state government had earlier planned to resume schooling from the 20th day of July, but recent developments made the state government to shift resumption date to August 3rd, 2020.
This latest development wax made known by the Commissioner of Education, Mr Foluso Daramola, the State’s Commissioner for Education. The commission also revealed that the South West states had a virtual meeting where each state were asked to plan for resumption of classes.
According to the new development and subsequent change of resumption date, Pupils in primary 6 and students in JSS 3, SSS 3 are expected to resume on the 3rd day of August, 2020. The Ekiti State Commissioner for Education also asked parents to provide at least 3 facemasks for their school children.
The Commissioner also stated that the Government will provide necessary equipment which will help prevent the spread of Covid-19 in Ekiti Schools. He also asked the management of schools with two Gates to make sure that one of those gates remains closed. He said that the closure of one of the gates will help to control the movement of people in the school.
School buses are no longer permitted to convey school children to school. The decision to discontinue the usage of school buses is as a result of social distancing protocols. This latest update from Ekiti State comes shortly after the Federal Government decided to postpone the earlier planned resumption of school.
