Truly Nigeria is God's own country, blessed with a lot of mineral resources, talents and art.
Nigeria is a multi-lingual state located on the western coast of Africa. It has 250 ethnic groups speaking over 500 distinct languages.
Recently, Nigerians have been doing the country proud across the globe, ranging from Hilda Baci who broke the Guiness World Record in a cook-a-thon in time of 100 hours to 17 year old Philip Solomon for most skips on one foot in 30 seconds amongst others.
Recently, another young Nigeria is making the country pride outside the shores of the country by becoming the overall best graduating student in Loyola Marymount University, Los Angeles, California, USA. The name of the young Nigeria is Ugorji Somtochi.
Somotochi did his parents, family and even Nigeria proud by achieving this great feat of becoming the overall best in a foreign land and out of thousands of students.
While speaking at the valedictory service organised by the school, Ugorji was able to absorb the crowd into his Igbo heritage by teaching them a few words during his speech. He proudly identified himself as a Nigerian and also emphasized his cultural heritage.
Ugorji said;
"My family is from the Igbo tribe and in our culture, we have a phrase called 'Igbo kwenu'."
Explaining further Ugorji said, the phrase 'Igbo kwenu' simply serves as endorsement and agreement while also representing the unity and strength of the Igbo people.
The 22-year-old Nigerian went on to teach those present at the event the Igbo language and they all responded.
