Ministry of Education Says The Jan. 18th, 2021 Resumption Date For Schools Stands - Bashir Ahmad

There has been an ongoing saga on the actual resumption date for schools, after the calling off of the strike embarked upon by the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) which saw the closure of varsities for more than eight months.

The calling off of the strike, and the fixing of January 18th for resumption has been met with mixed feeling considering the Coronavirus virus pandemic second wave, which is giving the people a major reason to worry as they reasoned it might not be safe to resume school pending when the rave in the virus has dwindled, as they await the Federal Government to arrive at a decision.

But it seems schools will be resuming after all, as Bashir Ahmad confirmed this in a tweet that reads, "The Federal Ministry of Education says the January 18th, 2021 resumption date for schools stands. A statement from Mr. Ben Goong, director, press and public relations of the Ministry stated the decision not to alter the date was taken after wide consultation." Which implies that school will be resuming at the earlier date stated, as an agreement has been reached.
