Delsu Declare 2 Lectures - Free Days To Mourn The Death Of Two Final Year Economics Students

It was a black Tuesday for students and management of the Delta State University, Delsu Abraka, most especially for the students of the department of Economics, as two final year students of the department of economics, faculty of Social Science ( FSS), were crushed to death by a dangote trailer carrying full load of cement, on Tuesday.

The two best friends and students of the same department had boarded a bike on their way going out, when a Dangote trailer carrying cement had fallen off the major police station road, abraka. It fell on the bike thereby trapping the two students. Efforts to try to save them proved abortive as they struggled for their life underneath the heavy trailer.

One of the boys had his both legs chopped off by the sharp edge of the trailer and died immediately, while the under one, half of his body was in between the trailer, people tried to dig him out using a shovel, but nothing else could be done until he passed away few minutes later.

In response to the sad incident, the school authorities decided to declare a two days public holiday in honor of the deceased who met a very tragic and horrific end in the cold hands of death.

May their souls rest in peace and may God grant the families the fortitude to bear the loss.
