However a recent meeting has been held concerning this issue.

It has been revealed that the House of Representatives on Thursday held a meetting with the stakeholders in the education sector concerning arriving on a safe way of reopening schools so that students can be able to sit for the West African Secondary School Certificate Examination (WASSCE).

The matter concerning the reopening of schools for WASSCE was discussed by the House Committee on Basic Education and Services, the Federal Ministry of Education and West African Examination Council.

After much discussion, the House resolved to meet with the Nigerian Governors ’ Forum, which may be headed by the President, Muhammadu Buhari, hoping to convince the president to approve the reopening of schools.

The stakeholders acknowledged that if the September date for the commencement of the exam is to be met, the President has to act fast and give his approval so that things can be put in place for the exam.
