Getting admission into a federal university is highly competitive. You can however bag degrees from an institution like Bayero University, Kano with ease by going through colleges of education and islamic schools that are affiliated to the university.
The first institution in this category is Ahmadu Danyama Rufa’i College of Education, Legal and General Studies (formerly A.D. Rufai College of Legal and Islamic Studies). This is a Bauchi State owned college that was originally established to promote Arabic, Islamic Studies and the Sharia Legal System. Interestingly, the institution also has accreditation of the National Commission for Colleges of Education (NCCE) to award NCE. Under the current provost, Dr Auwal Amba, the college has secured approval to run Bachelor of Arts programs in Arabic and Islamic Studies respectively.
Kwara State College of Arabic and Islamic Legal Studies (KWARACAILS), Ilorin is the second institution in this category. KWARACAILS was established in 1992 to provide an institution of higher learning for students that have completed schooling in private islamic schools. It is listed in the current JAMB brochure as an affiliate of BUK.
Sheik Ibrahim El-Tayeb Institute, Kano is a private arabic school founded by a Sudanese industrialist and philanthropist. This institution has one university-affiliated degree program.
Federal College of Education, Katsina is one of the teacher training institutions established under the military regime of Olusegun. Obasanjo. In addition to its regular NCE courses, the college has 10 BUK-affiliated degree programs.
Jigawa State College of Education, Gumel was established as a part of the old Kano State in 1976 and was relocated to its current location in 1980. With the creation of Jigawa in 1991, the institution came under the ownership of Jigawa State government. Though an NCE awarding school, the institution has seven university-affiliated degree programs.
Saadatu Rimi College of Education, Kumbotso, Kano is the sixth institution that is affiliated to the university. This institution is owned by Kano State Government and currently has 8 degree programs.
