Recall that on Tuesday, 14th September, 2021 Univrsity of Benin Students took to the streets to protest an extra N20,000 levy imposed by the School Management for Late School fees payment. There was a massive gridlock on Lagos-Benin Express way as vehicles were blocked from moving. The hold-up was beyond control. The aggrieved Students blocked the roads thereby hindering motorists and vehicles from moving on.
Following the wild reactions from Students due to the protest, the Vice Chancellor of the University has ordered the immediate shutdown of the Institution till further notice. All Students are to vacate hostels and School premises on or before Wednesday, 15th September, 2021. An email was sent to every Student's Official School Email regarding this Effect.
However, some Students are still in the School premises, they said it is their decision to make and choose what should happen, atleast they have Student Union Government, that they should consider their future.
