Just In: Nigerian Universities to Remain Closed Until 2021- ASUU

The News as Published by Punch News earlier today has it that the governing body Of Universities which is the Academic Staff Union of Universities abbreviated as (ASUU) has recently advised the Nigerian government to completely shut down tertiary schools until further notice of the year 2021, this according to them is to ensure that there is adequate preparation for it, citing also the recent case in some African countries who went on to reopen school, such as Kenya.

The Academic union of universities also went ahead to give support to the earlier decision of the Federal Government of Nigeria to suspend the SSS3 pupils from taking part in the WAEC which was earlier scheduled to begin on the 4th August, 2020.

The leading executives of the Federal Ministry of Education, Nigeria, met up with some delegated officials from West African Examination Council (WAEC) in the Country's capital Abuja, and agreed to make public a new selected date for the entrance examination.

The Nigerian Minister of State for Education, in the person of Mr Chukwuemeka Nwajiuba, had also mentioned that the Nigerian government would have to officially consult with the other four African countries who are under the WAEC body to select and set a new date for the examinations.
