The Nigerian Educational System leadership have been mostly dominated by the male folks .
Coming to the Universities, most Vice Chancellors of many Universities in the country have been the male professors. That doesn't mean that we don't have female professors.
Recently, the news of the appointment of the first female professor in Federal University of Technology, Owerri, FUTO, Prof. Nnenna Oti, was received with joy and jubiliations, more especially, due to the fact that the Prof. is from a neigbouring state, Ebonyi State.
Here are other females who have served or is still serving as Vice Chancellors in Nigerian Universities.
1. Prof. Cordelia Agbebaku :
She was the Vice Chancellor of University of Benin, UNIBEN, Edo State.
She was appointed Vice Chancellor of UNIBEN in 2014.
2. Prof. Charity Angya:
She was appointed Vice Chancellor of Benue State University from 2010- 2015.
3. Ekanem Ikpi Braide:
She was appointed Vice Chancellor of Cross River University of Technology, CRUTECH, from 2004-2009.
She was also appointed the pioneer Vice Chancellor of Federal University of Technology, Lafia, Nasarawa State, from 2011-2016.
4. Prof. Aize Obayan:
She was appointed Vice Chancellor of Covenant University from 2005- 2012.
She was also appointed Vice Chancellor of Landmark University from 2015-2017.
5. Prof. Nnenna Oti:
She was recently appointed Vice Chancellor of the University of Technology, Owerri, FUTO in 2021.
