The Kwara State University, Malete and the Ilorin Zonal Command of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission have expressed readiness to work together in tackling the menace of computer-related frauds.
Speaking on Wednesday, October 13, 2021, during a courtesy visit to the Ilorin Zonal Command of the Commission, the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Muhammed Mustapha Akanbi SAN expressed the readiness of the institution to collaborate with the commission, especially in the areas of sensitization. He emphasised the need for the youth to be properly educated on the menace of economic and financial crimes as well as computer-related frauds.

Prof. Akanbi assured the commission of his support and commitment towards fighting the social menace and hoped that the commission will be willing to assist the institution in areas of advocacy and sensitization, stating that future leaders should be enlightened on the vices and implications of indulging in financial crimes.
Similarly, the VC revealed that plans are on going to bring a large number of students into the campus, as " the institution is partnering private investors to build state-of-the-art hostels for students. This will, in no small measure, aid the institution in monitoring activities of students".
Responding, the EFCC Zonal Commander, Ilorin, Mr. Usman Muktar said the Commission is willing to partner stakeholders in the fight against financial and cyber crimes. He hinted that the commission has been engaging youth positively through advocacy and sensitisation and other yielding measures. He therefore stated that they will gladly support this collaboration between the two institutions, that is geared towards nipping the menace in the bud.
Usman revealed that the Commission has been setting up an Integrity Club in institutions across the country and will do same in KWASU.
Highlights of the visit include the setting up of a joint KWASU/EFCC Commitee to harness ways of actualizing set goals and objectives.
The VC had in his entourage the Dean Student Affairs, Prof. Jimba Mashood; the Director Legal Services, KWASU Barr. Yaqub Omotosho; Director University Relations, Mallam Abdulrazaq Sanni and the personal assistant to the Vice Chancellor, Mr Isiak Babatunde.
