The Minister of State for Education, Hon. Chukwuemeka Nwajiuba, had on Friday said that the Federal Government and West African Examination Council have agreed on a new date which is August 4th to September 5th 2020, as an official date for students to sit for West African Senior School Certificate Examination in Nigeria.
The Minister said that the agreement was reached in a meeting between the Federal Government and WAEC officials on Monday at Abuja, and both parties have also agreed in the meeting, to consult four other countries about the new date for the examination.
Hon. Chukwuemeka further said that, the government has also communicated to school owners about the fixed date for the examination.
Also, the government has set up specific guidelines which must be followed before all schools can be reopened in the country. The government has given them up to 29th July 2020 to meet up with the guidelines and assured the public that a date for reopening of schools will be announced in due time.
