Make Agric Science A Compulsory Subject For Students In A'Ibom State - Governor Tells Ministry

The government of Akwa Ibom State has directed that Agricultural Science should be taught as a compulsory subject to every student in Secondary Schools within the state.

The state government gave the order to the State's Ministry of Education to enable the students have early information and experience on crop production and animals rearing. This According to the government will go in line with the industrialization and agricultural investment which are the core focus of the present administration in the state.

The state's government made this decision during the last Executive council Meeting which held on Monday this week.

As contained in the information signed and released by the state's Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Comrade Ini Ememobong, after the meeting, schools farms were directed to be established in all public secondary, technical and primary school within the state.

"Council directed that school farms should be established in all Public Secondary, Technical and Primary Schools in the state. Additionally, the Ministry of Education was directed to make Agricultural Science a compulsory subject in all public Schools, Technical and Primary Schools. Agricultural Science teachers to be recruited and posted to all schools...",the information read in part.

The state government believes that for food Security to be ensured in the state, every member of the society should participate in it's cultivation and production. And the school is the basic and best platform where the younger generation can learn the knowledge and skill of agriculture and farming.
