Undoubtedly, this pandemic has done more harm than good to the economic status of the country. Most businesses are currently at a halt because there has been little or no patronage. Companies that manufacture school equipments and materials like clothes, books, footwears and so on have been standing still. This is because schools are sit down and there is no need for the articles they produce.
In Awka, shoe and clothe traders are recording very poor sales due to the pandemic. This is also as a result of high cost of wholesale goods and low patronage because schools are currently not in session.
Looking at the photos, you will notice that these traders are idle doing nothing. Their shops are stocked with commodities but there is no one to buy.
The traders lament that the absence of students from schools has made the situation worse. This is because it is mostly students that buy what they sell and their major patronage comes from them. Sadly, they plead that the government should put in place, adequate modalities and take the necessary steps to reopen schools.
This is really sad. One would be left to ask how they survive, fend for themselves and take care of their families seeing how bad their business have become.

What do you think about this? Are you of the opinion that government should reopen schools? What is the best solution to the cry of these poor traders?
