It is important to know every details about the course you want to study in the university because it's what you will live with forever. In Nigeria today, some courses are useless, i use the word useless because after graduation and service, it is nearly impossible to get a job related to that field of study. Some of those courses are

Employment opportunity related to courses like this is Lecturing (teaching student to teach future generations). and to get a Lecturing job today in NIGERIA, you must have nothing less than a second class upper, some higher institutions wont accept applicants without a master degree.
The number of students that graduate kept on increasing every year which make it very difficult to get a job. some job are very lucrative, they pay well but its very hard to get a job with their certificates, some people are lucky though and some know people with higher rank to get a job.
there are some courses students are not paying attention to with low job-hunting competition and great pay, some can even make you your own boss. here are some of them
3 computer science
8 math and stat
9 ethical hacking
10 cyber security science and so on.
As a secondary school graduate, you need to make your research well before going for any course in the higher institution. dont pick a course because your friend is going for it, think for yourself and utilize your talent and ability to the fullest. try as much as possible to graduate with a first class or a strong second class upper. wish us all the best.
