The Presidential candidate of the All Progressive Congress, Bola Ahmed Tinubu has promised that students will not spend eight years for a course that takes four years, vows to end strike in public universities as well as transform the education sector of Nigeria.
Tinubu stated this during his campaign in Abia State on Tuesday. The general election is coming up in about a month's time.
He said to the students and younger generation, who are present at the rally, he appreciated their efforts. They will not spend eight years for a four-year course as they will graduate as at when due.
Industrial action by academic staff and non-academic staff has crippled as well altered calendars in public universities.
The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), had embarked on strike last year over failure of the government to fulfill its promise. It took eight months before the strike was called off, after the union was dragged to the Industrial Court by the government.
