Protest in Ogun, as JAMB denies candidates entrance to exam center over lateness

Some candidates sitting for the 2020 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) on Wednesday were denied access into their respective examination centers.

The UTME officials accused the candidates of arriving late to their Computer-Based Test Centers.

Authorities of Tertiary Examination had announced that the examination will hold between 7am to 9am.

Candidates who arrived at the examination centers after the scheduled time were told go back home and prepare for next year Tertiary Examination.

The affected candidates stormed the JAMB office in Abeokuta, Ogun State Capital to complain their inability to meet up with the scheduled time, but, they were also denied entry into the JAMB office with the intent that none of the officials of JAMB were present at the office.

PLATFORM TIMES learnt that some candidates were late to the examination center due to wrong CBT centers' address while some encountered hectic traffic on their way to their CBT centers.

The affected candidates accused security and officials of the Tertiary Examination stationed at their respective CBT centers of being rude in their approach towards them.

They appealed to management of the Tertiary Examination to reschedule their appointment for the examination.

Speaking with PLATFORMTIMES, one of the affected candidates, Alade Dotun said, he saw a wrong address on the slip he printed from JAMB portal.

He said "My jamb center was at Sango, Otta but wrong address was written on the JAMB slip I printed.

"In the slip, Sagamu Town was written on it when I traced the address to Sagamu, I later realized that the address was in Ijoko, Sango Otta.

"mmedaitely, I rushed down to Sango to search for the center again, but when I later found the center, it was late already. I arrived at the center at 9: 42am.

"I checked my portal, Sagamu was boldly written on it. The address written on the slip , was Ijoko, Agbado, Sagamu Town.

"How would I know that there is no Ijoko in Sagamu. I don't know what to say again than to continue pleading to the JAMB officials to please reschedule the exams for us".
