Only four of the universities (Ahmadu Bello University; Air Force Institute of Technology, Bayero University and Federal University of Technology, Minna) are owned by the government while the rest are privately owned. If University of Ilorin (which runs the program as Telecommunication Science is included, the number of institution running the course will become 10.
Some Innovation Enterprise Institutions (IEIs) have also got the approval of the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) to award NID the program. Nine of these IEIs are owned by federal and state governments.
