FG Confirms When Nigerian Teachers Will Start Getting Special Salary
This was confirmed in a statement on Wednesday by the government through its official Twitter handle.
According to the President, the new approval is in recognition of the roles of teachers in nation-building and to encourage them in delivering better service.
The new approvals were disclosed in Abuja by the Minister of Education Adamu Adamu, who represented the President during the occasion of the 2020 World Teachers Day.
Governor Hope Appoints Ohakim
Hope Uzodinma is the incumbent Governor of Imo state and a chieftain in All Progressive Congress (APC).
Recently, Uzodinma has announced the appointment of former Governor, Dr. Ikedi Ohakim and four others as members of the burial committee for late Admiral Ndubuisi Kanu.
Naija News recalls that the Late Admiral Kanu who was a one-time Military Administrator of old Imo State, died January 13, 2021. He was a member of the defunct Supreme Military Council of Nigeria.
Ohakim, who is a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), was named the Chairman of the Committee.
His appointment was made known in a statement released on Wednesday by Oguwike Nwachuku, the Chief Press Secretary and Media Adviser to Governor.
Buhari Reacts As Boat Capsizes In Kebbi State
President Muhammadu Buhari has offered condolences to the families of those affected by a boat capsize in Kebbi State.
Describing the news as a devastating tragedy, Buhari in a statement through his spokesperson Garba Shehu appreciated all those that have been involved in the rescue and recovery efforts.
It will be recalled as previously reported by Naija News that an overloaded boat ferrying around 160 passengers on Wednesday sank in the Niger River, with many people reportedly missing.
This was disclosed by the administrative head of Ngaski district, Abdullahi Buhari Wara.
UBEC To Spend 12.6bn On Construction Of Model Smart Schools In 36 States
The Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC) says plans are underway to begin the construction of model smart schools in the 36 states of the federation.
Executive Secretary of UBEC, Hamid Bobboyi, who stated this on Wednesday in Abuja ahead of this year’s Children Day Celebration, said each of the model smart school would cost N350 million, which will amount to about N12. 6 billion for the 36 states.
He said the Commission would soon begin the construction of additional 17 smart schools in states that are yet to benefit from its earlier intervention.
Bobboyi said while the construction of model smart school goes for N350 million each smart school takes about N600 million to be established.
