Private Schools Hold Classes On Saturdays In Enugu Due To Sit-at-home Order

Some private schools in Enugu State have resolved to hold academic activities on Saturday because of the collapse of Monday's activities as result of the sit-at-home order issued by Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).

Despite the cancellation of the sit-at-home order by the IPOB, general activities on Monday's in the southeast region of the country have remained paralyzed as unknown gunmen use Mondays to carry out their evil activities.

The owners of the schools are afraid and do not want their names mentioned for security reasons.

One of the principals of a private school along the University Market road at Nsukka said they would not allow the education of our children to die like that. They decided to look for an alternative to convert Monday's activities to Saturday's.

This is the only way forward to cover up because of the order.

A parent who is in support of the initiative said it was to the advantage of the pupils and of them as parents. He commended the school authorities for the innovations as he himself is happy about it.

A pupil in one of the schools revealed that she and others come to school on Saturdays. The activities of Monday are done on Saturday. She added that she is happy to see her friends too at school.
