ASUU face new problem as FG moves to Deregister the Union over failure to submit its financial audit

There might be a move by Nigerian Federal Government to withdraw the Certificate of Registration (CoR) of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) introduced a new twist to the rift between the two bodies yesterday.

The development came barely a day after the National Industrial Court (NIC) rule ordered the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) to call off its strike and return to the classroom amid the Union’s ongoing negotiations with the Nigerian Federal Government.

The Nigerian government threatening to withdraw the ASUU’s Certificate of Registration (CoR) because of its alleged failure to submit the financial reports of its audited account as required by law in the last five years.

It was the query was issued to the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) by the government, through the Registrar of Trade Unions after the recent Court verdict that went in favour of the Nigerian Federal Government.

ASUU has refused to obey the Court verdict, adding that its decision will be made public when it has consulted with its legal lawyers to know the next professional steps to make.
