Hard work pays off most times. This is the case of Miss Joy Adesina who graduated with 10 distinctions in Obafemi Awolowo University. She also emerged as the best graduating medical students in the school.
The 24-year-old graduate is a native of Ogun state. In appreciation for her wonderful performance, she got some gifts from the Ogun state governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun. These gifts included a house, 5 million naira and a scholarship to further her studies.
As we all know, there is no success without sacrifice. Miss Joy Adesina during her Interview with Punch narrated the things she passed through in School before she finally achieved success. She talked about how her first year in school was terrible, and she had to struggle with some of her courses. But she never gave up. She, however, noted that after she saw her first grade of 4.84, she was motivated to do more.
She also talked about how she almost lost her life when she ran into a shoot-out during an armed robbery operation. The same week, she almost lost her life in a ghastly accident. All these incidents, according to her, happened when she was in school.
On how she was able to achieve success in school, Miss Joy said that she made sure that she kept a small circle of friends, all of whom were people who shared the same like minds with her. She also narrated how she read in two different sessions in one day. She starts the first reading session from 7pm to 9pm, and the second reading session from 2am to 6am.
Miss Joy is a perfect example of a student who knows the value of studying diligently to achieve success. Students should have it in mind that before they can come out with flying colours in their studies, they have to read well. There is no shortcut to success. That is exactly what Miss Joy's story has taught us in this article.
