Federal University Lokoja Set To Open Medical School

Federal University Lokoja, Kogi (North Central) was among the nine federal Universities established by former president Goodluck Jonathan's adminstration to ensure that every state in the country has a federal university.

The university was founded in 2011 and it has been officially recognised by National Universities Commission (NUC) to offer the following course: Biochemistry, Biology, Botany, Chemistry, Computer Science, Economics, English Language, French, Geography, Geology, History, Mathematics, Microbiology, Physics, Political Science, Sociology, Zoology.

The young university popularly known as Fulokoja is set to open a medical school following the need for a school of medicine in the university. The Vice-Chancellor of the university, Prof. Olatunde Akinwumi revealed this when the The Medical Director (MD) of FMC, Dr Olatunde Ajabi and his management team paid him a courtesy visit.

The VC stated that the university is getting ready to open a medical school, with the intention to use Federal Medical Centre (FMC) as its teaching hospital. He also added that pre clinical science school shall be opened in the Adankolo Campus of the University in preparation for the coming of the medical school.
