Graduates and potential graduates of the Federal University of Technology Owerri, Imo state have been seeing to be protesting on social media with the hashtag "say no to certificate collection fee".
After a brief meeting with the Senate committee, the Vice chancellor of the institution approve the payment of 20,000naira certificate collection fee.
On an interview with few graduates of the institution, they all express their disappoinment in the new improvement in the institution. They claimed the claim the governing bodies of the institution are looking for means to loot money, since salaries are being paid directly to staffs' account, making it impossible for them to loot funds.
The fee which used to be free was increased to 20,000 naira over night. With the high rate of unemployment in the country, it's difficult for these graduates to afford 20,000naira. Doesn't that mean they won't have access to their certificate which they have worked so hard for?
