As UTME registration is still ongoing in all the CBT- Centres across the country, it has come to our notification that candidates have been facing one problem or the other about their NIN. While some are yet to get their NIN for the registration process, a lot of other are finding it difficult to generate their profile code on the UTME portal via the given USSD code.
However, in order to relieve thousands of prospective UTME candidate from the distress they have suddenly found themselves, I have strived to gather the following piece of information for them and I hope it will be helpful for their registration process.
To start with, instead of linking their personal NIN with their SIM card, some students linked the NIN belonging to a friend or any of their relatives to their SIM, thus, making it difficult for the Nigerian Communication Commission (NCC) to supply UTME with the authentic details of the candidate as a result of contradiction that would have occurred in the details on SIM card and that of NIN. However, such confusion wouldn't allow UTME, as an examination body to have access to the candidate's information, thus, the candidate will be unable to get a profile code. Also, it must be noted that this factor won't affect candidates that used their parent phone number to link their NIN.
Moreover, to rectify this problem, the affected candidate should login to their Sim Card's Mobile App (e.g MTN App for MTN Users) to disconnect the old NIN from their SIM card and reactivate the SIM with their personal NIN. However, they can continue with the process of generating a profile code after it has been verified.
Finally, another available option is that candidate can get a new SIM, register the SIM with his name and link his personal NIN with the new SIM.
