Nigeria's popular actor, Yul Edochie indicated interest some months ago in the position of President by 2023. He was even endorsed by his father, veteran Nollywood actor, Pete Edochie. But the big question is, will he be able to succeed in the race, bearing in mind the kind of political structure we have in Nigeria.

Yul prides himself as a young man who never relied on his father’s name but worked extremely hard to build his name and a young man who came into Nollywood and took it to greater heights with his outstanding performances. For me, I think, it will be very hard for him to secure a ticket in the primary elections, not to talk of winning the presidential election. Judging from the political system in Nigeria, one can easily tell that it is either the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) wins the election or the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC). So unless Yul decides to contest under another party outside PDP and APC, he might not get the ticket.
We all know that in the PDP and APC, we have several bigwigs with the ambition of becoming the next president and would not give a ticket to a candidate that does not have the crowd. The truth is that unless all the youths in Nigeria join hands together and vote for him, I doubt if he will succeed in the race.
