We all have questions about the Nollywood industry that pop into our heads regularly, such as, do actors study? Is education required to become an actor? Or Which actor is the most/least educated? We all know that education is very important since it allows us to improve in life.
Nigerians generally believe that Nollywood stars are uneducated. In this article, I will present you with some Nollywood stars who graduated with a first-class degree to clear up this misconception.
1. Adesua Etomi
Adesua Etomi is more than just beautiful and likable. She embodies the saying "beauty plus brains." Adesua studied Physical Theater, Musical Theater, and Performing Arts at City College in Coventry, England, where she graduated with honors.
Adesua went on to study drama and performance at the University of Wolverhampton, where she was one of the best students, finishing with first-class honors in 2009.
2. Tosin Abiola
Tosin Abiola, popularly known as Omo Brish, graduated from a UK university with a first-class degree in August 2018. The mother of two is a role model for many young mothers out there, reminding them that motherhood does not prevent a woman from pursuing her academic goals.
3. Chinenye Nnebe
Chinenye Nnebe, a promising actress, graduated from Zenith University College in Accra, Ghana in October 2020 with a First-Class Honours in Business Administration.
4. Joseph Fiifi Van Vicker
Joseph Fiifi Van Vicker is the latest Nollywood star with a first-class degree. The actor graduated with a first-class degree in Strategic communication in July 2021, 21 years after finishing secondary school.
I'm sure you're wondering why Van Vicker took so long to get into university. According to the actor, he was unable to attend university with his peers in 1997 because he had a single mum that couldn't afford to send him to school. "Delay is not denial," as the proverb goes, exemplifies Van Vicker's academic life.
