Shatta Wale's death prank: Female writer, VimLady, gives blunt opinion about Ghanaian entertainers

It is no longer news that popular Ghanaian music artiste, Shatta Wale, is presently cooling off his feet in the Ghanaian Police cell, following his unamusing death prank. It would be recalled, that, a couple of weeks ago, a Ghanaian prophet made a death prophecy that Shatta Wale was going to die on October 18, 2021. But, the Ghanaian singer was having none of it and defiantly tagged the prophet's prophecy as fake. Subsequently, Shatta decided to prove him wrong by faking his demise (via a staged armed robbery shooting) on the said Oct.18; however, according to the country's laws, it was a violation to have proceeded with such an 'extreme' d€ath prank. The Ghanaian artist was arrested a few days later, and he's already having a regrettable mood in the Police cell.

Yet, his unfortunate prank is already attracting diverse conversations on social media, particularly on how some major Ghanaian artists are prioritizing irrelevant pranks, instead of focusing on delivering quality music content. And, now, respected Ghanaian female journalist & writer, Afia Pokua aka VimLady has explicitly called out Shatta Wale for his unnecessary stunt, as she tags him as an unserious artist.

For Afia Pokua aka VimLady, she strongly feels that some supposed high-profile Ghanaian music artists, indeed, are simply NOT doing enough to promote Ghana with quality creative content. In her passionate comment, Afia even compared Ghanaian artists with their Nigerian counterparts. She argued, that while the likes of Davido, Wizkid, Burna Boy, and even Tiwa Savage, are putting Nigeria on the global map with top-quality music, some major Ghanaian artists are busy occupying themselves with 'beefs & fake stories'.

And, in my honest opinion, to a large extent, I think I agree with her thoughts. Sometimes, I often feel that some Ghanaian entertainers are probably more focused on impressing with 'expensive' cars and enforced flamboyant lifestyle, instead of consistently doing quality music. Nonetheless, in Ghana, there are still some artists who are succeeding with exciting music content, regardless of the criticisms. Thus, in no particular order, I'm highlighting some top 3 Ghanaian artists who are currently achieving good music, as outlined below:

(1) Mona Montrage:

Mona Montrage aka Hajia4Reall is an actress who decided to switch her focus onto music, and, without any doubt, she is doing excitingly great for herself. Interestingly, a couple of years ago, some critics didn't believe she could shine as a music talent, considering her sudden switch from movie acting. But fast-forward to 2021, she is exceeding expectations and improving on her songwriting skills. Already, she has a few hit songs such as 'God's Child', 'Baby', and 'Fine Girl'.

(2) Sarkodie:

In Ghana, Sakordie is arguably the biggest music artist, and he has consistently maintained a top-level quality standard for over 7 years. He is a rapper, and he's fondly known for his particular way of fusing soft words to create meaningful rhythm. Indeed, at this moment, some observers have even tipped Sarkodie as probably the Ghanaian artist with the best chance of getting a Grammy nomination, and possibly with a good chance of winning it anytime soon.

(3) Gyakie:

Real name Jackline Acheampong, but fondly known by her stage name Gyakie, she has a good blend of beauty & intelligence. Notably, she is blessed with a sonorous voice, and she has often maintained her top-quality music vibes, regardless of the odds. Some keen observers have even compared her to Nigerian music diva, Asa, in terms of efficient voice control & songwriting quality. Without sentiment, Gyakie is primed to become an iconic Ghanaian music diva soonest, if she consistently maintains her good standards.
