Popular Nollywood actor, Chiwetalu Agu, who was released days ago after he was arrested by for putting on a dress that looks like Biafran flag, came on the news again after he stated that it is better for Nigeria to separate than stay together. The actor disclosed this while speaking in an interview with Broadway TV about his arrest by the Department of State Service (DSS).

After Chinwetalu Agu stated that is it better for Nigeria to separate than remain together, I found out some reasons why his assertion is wrong, and why it is better that Nigeria remain as an indivisible entity. In this article, I will like to share few reasons why I think it is better for Nigeria to remain together.

1. The Regions in Nigeria are Interdependent on each other
In my opinion, the first reason why it is better for Nigeria to remain together is because the regions in the country are interdependent on each other, as such, every region needs another region to function effectively. Considering the fact that the mineral resources in the country are distributed among the different states, it makes these regions rely on each other. Because the mineral resources found in one area may be lacking in another, I feel it is better for Nigeria to remain together.
2. Nigerians are already established at different locations in the country
Another reason why I think it is better for Nigeria to remain together is the fact that many Nigerians are established at different locations in the country, and it will be better that the country remain united so that these people will not be forced to leave their localities to start a new life elsewhere if the country is separated
3. An attempt to divide the country may affect the peaceful nature of the country
Another reason why I think it is better for Nigeria to remain united is because, an attempt to divide the country may affect the peaceful nature of the country, like what happened from 1967 to 1970. Recall that during that period, the country was plunged into a civil war as a result of an attempt to divide the country. Considering what happened during that time, I think is better for Nigeria to remain united.
With the above mentioned reasons, I think Chinwetalu Agu's statement is wrong. In my opinion, Nigeria is better together, and the people just need to accept their differences and live in harmony.
